Trusted issuers
Your company decides which labs and certifiers it trusts for each type of certificate. See who is trusted, and what changes when you stop trusting one.
A certificate counts only when your company trusts the lab or certifier that signed it, for that type of certificate. A-REX never decides this for you: your company owner does, one issuer and one type at a time. Trusting Laboratório Serra Azul for lab quality analyses says nothing about its organic certificates.
What the Trusted issuers tab shows
Open Certificates and select Trusted issuers. Each row pairs one Certificate type with one Issuer:
- Certificates in force: how many of its certificates of that type count today.
- Since: when your company started trusting it, or, under No longer trusted, when it stopped.
- Not in your directory: the signer is trusted, but nobody in your directory is registered with that account.
Use Show to switch between Trusted and No longer trusted, and Search by issuer to find one. The menu at the end of a row also has Open party.
How an issuer becomes trusted
An issuer is trusted once your company owner approves it, usually in one of two ways:
- The first time someone attaches a certificate of that type from that issuer. The certificate shows Waiting for issuer approval until the owner approves. See Waiting states.
- Up front, by listing the Certificate types it issues in the party's card in Parties. Trust an issuer takes you there.
Stop trusting an issuer
Do this when a lab loses its accreditation, or your company no longer accepts its results.
- In Trusted issuers, open the menu at the end of the row and select Stop trusting.
- Stop trusting this issuer shows how many certificates in force today stop counting.
- Add Why (optional), for example "Accreditation suspended in September".
- Select Propose to stop trusting.
It becomes an approval, "Stop trusting ‹issuer› for ‹certificate›". It goes through your company's administration account, so the owners approve it in Approvals. Its preview lists which certificates, on which lots, stop counting. While it waits, the row shows Stop proposed and Open approval.
What changes once it is recorded
- Certificates of that type signed by that issuer show the state Issuer no longer trusted.
- Rules that require them stop accepting those lots.
- Dashboards and reports stop counting them as in force.
The certificates stay on record. Stopping trust does not withdraw them, and it does not tell the issuer. To withdraw a single certificate, see How do I withdraw a certificate?
Trusting an issuer again
If your company decides to trust the issuer again for that type, the owner approves it again, as the first time. Its certificates then count again, and the row moves back to Trusted. Certificates that expired or were withdrawn in the meantime stay expired or withdrawn.
